The Manual Machining Department at STAMCO is an integrated department comprising of great people with machinery capable of Milling, Turning, Grinding, Heat Treatment, Welding and Water-Jet. This allows us the flexibility to manufacture Jigs, Fixtures, Punch Press tooling, Prototypes, and Machine Parts of all sorts.
Our Manual Machines include milling machines with travels up to L 50” x W 24” x H14” that allow us to recondition press break dies up to 12’ long. We also have smaller machines that are more suited to the finer work required when working with tooling and fixture components. For more complex components we have added a Hurco VM20 CNC milling machine with conversational programming software that makes programming and running low quantity part runs with short delivery time look easy.
Our Manual Lathe capacity includes a Stanko Lathe with swing up to 42” diameter x 11” long over Gap / 19”diameter x 112” long over carriage. We also have tool room lathes where we work on smaller components. To increase the versatility of the department we have added a Gildemeister NEF 520 CNC Lathe with a swing of 19 ½” over the bed and a swing of 14” over the carriage with a center to center distance of 53”.
Our Grinding section has the ability to do Surface grinding, Cylindrical Grinding, as well as custom grinding of cutting tools. We have 4 surface grinders. Two of them have 24” x 12” wide tables that can accommodate parts that are up to 16” high. We have a Long Bed surface grinder with an 8” x 72” table where we sharpen shear blades up to 20 feet long holding a tolerance of +-.001”. We also have a surface grinder with 6” x 16” table that is perfect for sharpening die plates and punches for rush die repairs.
We are able to offer customers die maintenance programs to keep their punch press tooling running in top condition. We can also reverse design and produce worn die components to refurbish dies that are at the end of their operational life. With our in-house heat treatment capabilities we are able to offer customers quicker turnarounds to minimize costly down time.
